It Takes The Whole Crew To Save Your Ship

Episode 3 - It Takes The Whole Crew To Save Your Ship

Ship Psychology differs from so many other types of therapy and self-help techniques, because it involves ALL parts of your mind. And for many common mental problems, that all-round approach is essential. Unfortunately, many mainstream therapies focus on only on one side of our psyche.

Cognitive behavioural therapy is one of the most popular techniques, but for a lot of people the strict rational approach isn’t enough to bring about lasting improvements. The Captain does the hard work, but it doesn’t trickle down to the First and Deckhand when they aren’t on speaking terms with the Captain.

Likewise, focusing on emotions alone is liberating and thrilling for the First Mate (to the point of being addictive) but it leaves the Captain and Deckhand shrugging their shoulders. There may be a lot of driving power, but no one is steering or doing the actual work.

Involving your whole Crew increases the chances of making improvements to your mental health and making sure they last. And even if you have a brief relapse, you have the means to get back on track right there with you. Today, tomorrow, and decades from now!
