Out of the blue, people get angry or disappointed, and apparently that’s your fault somehow. They keep telling you that “you should never do that” or “you should always do this”. You constantly bend over backwards to meet their expectations, but you just can’t seem to win… and it’s just so exhausting. 

“Why can I just get it right?” you wonder, while you yet again put in all your effort to:

No human being can keep that up for long! No wonder you have all these aches and issues. Some days they bother you more than at others, but they keep coming back without ever having truly left. You probably recognise a few of them:

These issues are common symptoms of prolonged stress

Prolonged stress can be caused by a host of different things, like workload, performance pressure in school, perfectionism, life events, health worries, money worries, oppressive family, rude neighbours, peer pressure on social media, relationship issues or the loss of a loved one. 

When you experience the world differently than most people do – and therefore don’t fit standard expectations by default – that, too, can be a source of prolongued stress. You don’t need an officially  confirmed diagnosis of ADHD, autism, HSP, high-IQ or post-traumatic stress disorder to notice the influence of aspects thereof on how you think, feel and act. 

And your sexuality, gender identity, skin colour, religion of disability can also be the reason why you are expected to comply with other people’s expectations of who you are.

But when you continuously turn yourself inside out trying to adjust yourself to appease others, you eventually lose yourself.

Being Yourself with self-confidence

“I just want to be myself!” So many people say this and mean it, but how will you know that you are being yourself when you don’t truly know who you are yet? 

Who are you at heart? What drives you truly? These are some of the questions that turn your dream of being yourself into reality. Just imagine that:

  • you make decisions that you fully support without a doubt,
  • you voice your opinion with faith in yourself and in the other,
  • you can be honest about how you feel, even when it’s not going so great,
  • you have a firm grip and clear overview of your work, your home and your life,
  • you say out loud and wholeheartedly: “What I do is good enough.”

Maybe you already know what causes your problems and maybe that cause has a diagnosable name. Or perhaps you don’t know what is what beyond that you don’t want to feel like this anymore. 

In both cases, “At Full Sail” helps you get a handle on your problem and find a solution. The aim of the counseling is to (re)discover your internal mental resillience, so you are once more able to cope with the challenges you face – now and in future. Ultimately, that is what self-confidence really is!

Since the Covid crisis, video calls have proved to be an effective alternative to face-to-face sessions. The methods I use don’t require us to be in the same physical room and all exercises can be done across a video screen. Having gained extensive experience working with clients unable to travel or living at least half a continent away, I can confidently state that online counseling is as effective as face-to-face sessions.  

All sessions have a duration of at least 60 minutes, guaranteed. 

However, when you discover something important towards the end of those 60 minutes, I will not leave you to deal with this on your own because “time is up”. You deserve to explore and process this discovery to a point where you feel comfortable to wrap up our conversation for the time being. Typically, a few extra minutes are sufficient to give you that space, but sometimes you may need a bit more. If so, that space is available for you.

Tip: In your own calendar, do not schedule another appointment back-to-back with your sessions. You just put in a lot of effort, even if it may not seem like a lot. Give your self a bit of time to catch your (subconscious) mental breath.  

Yes, it’s possible to pay in 3 monthly instalments of € 272 (including € 15 administration fee). The first instalment is due before the first session. The other two instalments are due one resp. two months after the invoice date of the first instalment. Don’t worry: you will receive an overview of what is due when well in advance.
